Idaho Wilderness Yurts creates opportunities for self-led backcountry adventures, about 90 minutes outside of Boise via Highway 21 and Idaho City, year-round. Guests are responsible for coming prepared for any situation that may arise in the backcountry. In winter, ski, snowshoe or snowmobile 3.3 miles along beautiful, groomed trails to the three-yurt village nestled in the middle of thousands of miles of National Forest land. It is a curated experience that appeals to the most avid adventurer while also being accessible to the average family with kids bundled up and towed in a pulk. Guests can enjoy luxuries uncommon in the backcountry: memory foam mattresses, solar power, a refrigerator, granite countertops in the fully-equipped dry kitchen and even an indoor toilet. Once you’re settled with a roaring fire, savor a snow-crisped beer to celebrate your arrival, pick up an ax for an old-fashioned workout splitting wood, or simply play games and read while simmering soup on the wood stove. When you’re ready to take relaxation to a new level, heat up the wood-fired sauna that overlooks the river. There is no cell reception at the yurts, and guests are responsible for navigation. Wintertime parking permits must be purchased in advance through Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation for a modest fee. Read the Winter Guide before you book. In the warm season the yurts are accessible by car and make a launchpad for adventures in the North Fork of the Boise River watershed: hiking, mountain biking, fly fishing, ATV riding and the southern slopes of the Sawtooth Mountains. Each 27’ yurt sleeps up to 8: two queen beds and two twin XL beds on two bunk beds, and a leather couch with dual recliners for guests 7 and 8. Bring your own sleeping bag. The yurts are guest-cleaned. Pets are allowed in the Green Yurt. Please keep your pets off all furniture and beds to help keep the place clean and smelling fresh. Two large dog beds are provided to give them a cozy place to sleep.
